Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Thermal Energy Centre

The existing Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) Thermal Energy Centre had reached the end of its operational life span. Kinetic was contracted to perform renovation work and new construction of the facility. The new thermal energy centre replaced the existing boiler room on the third level of the main hospital.
In addition, a new 7125 sq. ft single-storey, post-disaster building was constructed adjacent to the Water Supply building on the west side of the NRGH campus.
The project included moving the boiler system out of the third floor location within the existing hospital, and providing a seismically engineered design to house the new systems and supporting Mechanical and Electrical Facility Management and Operations. The existing hospital systems were seamlessly blended into the new boiler system during construction, all done with little or no disruption to daily operations of the hospital.
