Two projects comprised the Government House Accessibility Upgrades job. One involved the construction of a ramp and the other involved upgrading of two washrooms. The first project was to renovate a men’s washroom and a women’s washroom for handicap access. The floor tile was completely replaced and new fixtures and handicap stalls were installed. The second project is the addition of a handicap steel ramp and railing added to the exterior of the building.
The existing finish of flagstone rock in a concrete bed was replaced with coloured stamped concrete. The ramp design is metal with concrete topping and a railing to match the existing railings on the upper deck. The ramp is designed for wheelchair access and is apprimately 35 meters long.
