New Project: Cowichan Regional Visitors Centre
The Duncan Cowichan Chamber of Commerce announced Monday Kinetic is the General Contractor for the Cowichan Regional Visitor Centre (CRVC).
Kinetic was selected through a public bidding process. Kinetic was the successful bid with the lowest cost, plus experience as the General Contractor for the Vancouver Island Visitor Centre in Comox – a building similar in purpose to the CRVC. Kinetic is also constructing local commercial buildings in Cowichan Commons (Trans Canada Hwy & Drinkwater Road.)
“As a local Vancouver Island contractor, Kinetic has been active in the Cowichan Valley for over 20 years,” said Bill Gyles, President of Kinetic. “We’re excited to be involved in a project that will help welcome people to this unique part of the Island.”
“Kinetic is ideally suited when it comes to budget, experience and reputation. In addition, they are totally on board with the Chamber’s requirement to hire locally whenever possible, “ said Julie Scurr, Chamber Vice President and Chair of the Cowichan Regional Visitor Centre Building Committee. “Kinetic is currently mobilizing on-site at the Forest Discovery Centre, and you’ll see construction start within the next 10 days.”
Residents and guests should note that The Forest Discovery Centre (FDC) remains open and operational during construction. Kinetic is working to minimize any impact on FDC guests or operations. The Cowichan Regional Visitor Centre is slated for completion November 2013.
